Organisational development is about how an organisation achieves
its purpose through its design, function, structure and processes.
sometimes it's also refferred to as Organizational
Effectiveness.
Following are the five logical arguments to set apart
organisational development from change management,
- it is unfortunate that Organisational Development had become
narrowly positioned as part of the Human Resource especially
Learning and Development- when individual development is far
different from organizational development. As Organisational
Development practitioner you help develop an organization to
optimise its function in delivering its strategies, goals and
objectives.
- Change Management is about an organization achieving a desired
future state from its current state with minimal disruption or
negative impact to the organisation
- The prime difference in Organisational Development and Change
Management is that Organisational Development is considered as a
broader, operational function.
- Organisatioban Development is usually concerened with ongoing
initiatives, where Change Management is typically more focused on
projects.
- Change Management has roots in engineering and IT, and
historically focused more on how changing a one aspect of a
technical system affects the whole.
