In: Operations Management
On our text book (Ghillyer) you will find the phrase
“Sustainable ethics is a culture are those that persist within the
operational policies of the organization long after the latest
public scandal or the latest management buzzword”.
Please explain, what does this phrase mean? Give examples to
emphasis your argument.
Sustainable ethics is at the core of the business which sustains the ethics and culture which are within the operations even there are small issues with the people in the business. The culture is the scope that the business develops from the very beginning of the business and is an integral part of the business operations. The culture suggests how the business would behave in a case to mitigate the flaws. The people may go out of the scope but the business and the culture would stay for long which is unharmed with the public sandals or such new developments.
The culture, for example, suggests that the people in the business would get full protection from any gender or race-based abuse. So the people in the business would do everything to mitigate those to bring in the needed cultural aspects to see such deviations don’t happen. With such the culture which is ingrained in the business won’t change but the deviations would suggest the culture of the business for all to understand and perform.
