What do you think will happen within our culture and our health care system as genetic screening becomes more accurate and more common?
200 words at least
Genetic screening is testing for certain or a panel of genetically transmitted diseases.
With increasing accuracy and common testing, next generation can be of better genetics. As we are applying a selection process based on genetic testing.
Unseen problems this could raise in culture and health system is that, unethical practices may increase once it becomes common.
We have a handful of genetic diseases in our panel, but at the same time we may miss out some.
Once we start excluding an offspring based on genetic screening, some unstudied or unknown good characters may go off with it. This will restrain the population from positive evolution.
Some unethical practices of abortions, based on sex determination can come into play in soceity, in the name of genetic screening.
Emotional trauma for the parents and family have to face is another problem.
At the same time diseases which are correctable by metabolic adjustments of food or fortification help the population, its culture and the individual itself in a positive way.
Also some diseases correctable by mechanical splints also aid community in better way.
Some other conditions where hormonal intake is necessary in parental route or orally will also guide population culture and health system in a wonderful way as a result of genetic screening.
So to conclude genetic screening once becomemore accurate and common, it will affect population culture in both ways. Judicial use of such technologies help community, aid population in evolution, and betterment of health system and decrease morbidity in individual.
