phosphodiesterase type 5 enzyme found wall of the blood vessels , which help to control blood flow to the pulmonary arteries.

PDE5 inhibitors are drug which block PDE5 enzyme causes blood vessel to relax and thereby incresing blood flow to certain areas of the body . PDE5 inhibitors drugs are clinically used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction ,pulmonary hypertension, benign prostatic hyperplasia.example for PDE5 inhibitors are sildenafil, vardenafil,tadalfil

contraindications

. contraindicated iin patient with previous nonarteric anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy and hereditory eye diseases .

. contraindicated in patient with a known hypersensitivity to PDE5 inhibitors.( cause hypotension)

. contraindicated in patient taking any form of organic nitrate  

causion to be taken for the patients with ; history of MI, stroke ,or life threatening arrythmia in past 6 months

resting hypo or hypertension

concomitant administration of alpha blockers

main adverse effect includes ;

headaches, flushing

lightheadedness

visual deficit

runny nose , nasal congestion

dyspepsia

exanthemia
