Identify the environmental factors related to influenza?
The factors that dictate the severity and spread of influenza would include the virus, natural and acquired Hosts, virus-host,interactions, environmental persistence, virus stability and transmissibility ,and anthropogenic interventions.
Many metrological studies attempting to link climatic conditions to influenza seasonality have been performed .Apart from temperature and humidity,air pollution,UV radiation,and participation affect transmissibility of influenza virus.An association between rain full and influenza transmission has been reported in India and Bangladesh.A recent study has shown that influenza virus is susceptible to UV exposure that is negatively correlated to RH.
How does influenza affect the environment ,At low temperature,absolute humidity negatively affects influenza incidence ( drier conditions improve survival of the influenza virus when it is cold), but at high temperature,absolute humidity positively affect influenza ( wetter conditions improve survival of the influenza virus when it is warm).
Some environmental factors that influenza development;
Over the past 100 years ,the study of environmental influences on human physical growth and development has focused on the influences of social and economic factors; family and household characteristics; urbanization/modernization; nutrition ; and features of the physical environment such as altitude,temperature and climate.
The environmental drivers of influenza outbreaks are largely unknown. Despite more than 50 years of research,there are conflicting lines of evidence on the role of the environment in influenza A virus (IAV) survival,stability,and transmissibility.With the increasing and looming threat of pandemic influenza,it is important to understand these factors for early intervention and long-term control strategies.the factors that dictate the severity and spread of influenza would include the virus, natural and acquired Hosts,virus- host interactions,environmental persistence,virus stability and transmissibility and anthropogenic interventions.virus persistence in different environments is subject to minor variation in temperature ,humidity, pH,salinity airpollution and solar radiations. Seasonality of influenza is largely dictated by temperature and humidity,with. cool dry conditions.enhancing IAV survival and transmissibility in temperature climates in high latitudes,whereas humid-rainy conditions favor outbreaks in low latitudes,as seen in tropical and subtropical zones.In mid- latitudes ,out break result from Alternating cool- dry and humid - rainy conditions.The mechanisms of the virus survival in the cool - dry or humidy - rainy conditions is largely determined by the presence of salts and proteins in the respiratory droplets.social determinants of health, including heath equity,vaccine acceptance,and age- related illness,may play a role in influenza Occurrence and spread.
