Within your current or previous organization, identify and discuss any form of bias and provide what you think could be a remedy.
A form of bias that I can identify with my previous organisation is the bias for Status Quo. This type of bias shows reluctance to change and maintain the situation as is without choosing any other alternatives than the existing choices. In my organisation, the status quo was maintained regarding the organisation structure. With cost competencies, business needs and changes in business for being more customer oriented, there was a need to change organisational structure to be more simpler and approachable. Since the organisation did not make any changes to realise the growing size or simplifying the organisation structure, some business units lost their relevance and became unprofitable to be dissolved from the organisation as the costs increased and efficiency reduced.
Organisations need to take rational risks in time to avoid the bias of Status Quo. If the organisation's do not make choices with changing times and show flexibility, there are chances of increasing cost, losing interest and growing redundancy. Though making changes are considered expensive and risky hence the persons associated don't make different choices but realisation of cost benefit analysis, understanding of potential losses in long term, gradual efforts to realise and plan for changes can help in reducing or removing Status Quo bias.
