Sickle cell crisis occurs in persons affected with sickle cell anemia . Sickle cell anemia is an inherited disorder wherein the red blood cells acquire sickle shaped instead of the normal biconcave shape .
In Sickle cell crisis , the red blood cells which are sickle shaped clump and block the blood vessels which carry blood to different organs, bones, muscles . It is a painful condition which results in severe body pain, tiredness, anemia, swelling of extremities.
Nursing interventions for patient with sickle cell crisis :
Sickle cell crisis is a painful emergency condition which can caused decreased SPO2 levels causing dyspnea and affects other organs too and immediate attention and interventions is required to provide complications.
