4 Should search engines continue making the search data available to researchers outside of the organization? If so, what should be done to protect consumer privacy while allowing researchers to use the data?
✓ researchers provide great support in the form of research papers and studies in the form of reliable reports, that helps the various organisations, institutions and individuals to understand various concepts related to anything. They provide help to marketing department by helping them with the insights related to customers, their behaviour, buying patterns, segmentation, and many of the important areas. Likewise, in every field research work gives lot of information which is valid and tested, to make necessary decisions, and to solve problems.
Search engines must allow the researchers to use the search data available but, in a controlled way. Customers privacy should be taken seriously and their financial or sensitive data must not be made directly available to any third party.
There must be proper encryption and coding applied to the data and authorisation must be given to the trusted researchers, with the information that won't violate any privacy. Organisations must ensure that whatever information they are taking and storing is agreed by the customers or audience and they are well informed about the usage. By hiding their names, financial and other important information, their buying history, preference, and other aspects can be shared for a study, to better serve them with new products/services.
