For a closed- loop leveling measurement, if the misclosure error C is 9 mm, the travel distance ( the perimeter of the leveling loop) K is 2000 meters, please determine the order of leveling accuracy?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Order or levelling usually refers to the quality of levelling and can be defined based on expected maximum closing error(i.e misclosure error). There are standard specifications for maximum misclosure error based on order of levelling.

For first order, maximum misclosure error is 6mm. But given error is 9mm. So oder of accuracy is not of first order.

Checking for second oder: maximum misclosure error for second oder is 14mm. Given error lies within this range. So order of levelling accuracy is 2.
