HEALTHCARE: the maintaining and restoration of health through diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease especially by trained and licensed professionals. EXAMPLE OF A POLITICAL ISSUE : GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES ISSUES: A subsidy means government pays part of the cost. The mechanism through which change in political regime might affect health is of considerable interest. The healthcare industry is impacted by many political factors including 1. insurance mandates 2. tax legislation changes and 3. consumer protection. Government spending money for healthcare can be affected by tax policy changes. It can be a benefit, allowing for increased subsidies or it can be a cause for concern. Governmental changes can affect the public and the healthcare services they are entitled to, especially with changing healthcare bills and plans. WHO ARE ALL AFFECTED BY THESE ISSUES? PUBLIC OUTCOME TO REDUCE THE IMPACT OF POLITICAL FACTORS: 1. The government would have to raise a significant amount of tax revenue for the public. 2. A government should avoid subsiding firms unless there is a clear social benefit to subsiding firms. It further gives a positive externality to the society. 3. Elected politicians need to promise to keep a permanent subsidy , even though there is a net welfare loss.
