What are healthcare-associated infections (HAI)? Give an example of a type of HAI. How can healthcare providers prevent HAI?
Answer: Health care associated infections are that which patients get during the treatment, or while recieving treatment for medical or surgical condition.
Modern health care includes many types of devices, procedure to treat the patient so that they may recover fast. Many devices are being modified for the patient fast recovery and easiness. Infection can be associated with devices used in medical procedures, such as catheters or surgical instruments etc. These healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) include central line-associated bloodstream infections, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, and ventilator-associated pneumonia. Infections may also occur at surgery sites, known as surgical site infections. CDC works to monitor and prevent these infections because they are an important threat to patient safety.
Central line associated blood stream infection causes many death in U.S, every year. But prevention can be done and many treatments are being given such as antibiotics. At the early stage of infection.
