Ability is believed to be of critical factor of job performance and without it performing a job cannot be conceived. Ability is an inherent eminence of beginning an activity and completing it with achievement of a desirable outcome. Abilities are considered as something to be developed and mastered by practice, but the researchers have concluded that genetic factors also contribute to manifestations of ability. Ability may be classified as cognitive, physical and emotional.    Cognitive ability is related to act of acquiring and using data, information and knowledge in order to solve problems. The three categories of abilities are inevitable to all jobs, Some jobs require cognitive ability more while some jobs demand emotional ability. Emotional ability is using appropriately ones emotional expressions to influence others. Emotional ability is required in job such as nursing, counseling, teaching, etc. While cognitive abilities are required in engineering design, research, etc.  

IDEO is a global design company that looks for opportunity to create and design something new and that can impact positively. A career in IIDEO demands both cognitive abilities and emotional abilities equally. For creative thinking, designing systems and products and for evaluation of ideas, cognitive thinking abilities are critical. Emotional abilities are also important as the impactful ideas need to be negotiated with others to obtain buy-ins. Also, the design creator has to lead a team to crate impact which demands emotional skills. Whether an organization is formal or informal, the cognitive abilities and emotional skills are critical in an organization that attempts to create designs.
