Smoking
Lower esophageal sphincter weakens due to smoking which allows gastric acid to flow upwards to the esophagus. It causes heart Burn, it also increases the risk for esophageal ulcer and cancer.

Smoking increases the risk of damaging the inner lining of the GI tract by decreasing the secretion of mucus and sodium bicarbonate.
