. The learning styles of students in a university biology course were measured and the students were divided into two groups depending on their propensity towards visual learning (style 1) versustext-based learning (style 2). Severalteaching interventions aimed at visual learners were introduced into the course and the instructors scored the students as to whether or not they showed learning gains compared to the usual text-based materials. The results are given in the table below. Conduct a Chi-square analysis to determine if learning gains were contingent of learning style. Discuss the results and state your conclusions. LS1/Yes:28, LS1/No:10, LS2/Yes:48, LS2/No:114

LS2 2.987 1.831

Chi-Square Test Statistic,χ² = Σ(fo-fe)^2/fe =   25.3557

Level of Significance =   0.05
Number of Rows =   2
Number of Columns =   2
Degrees of Freedom=(#row - 1)(#column -1) = (2- 1 ) * ( 2- 1 ) =   1

p-Value =   0.0000   [Excel function: =CHISQ.DIST.RT(χ²,df) ]
Decision:    p-value < α , Reject Ho

conclusion: there is enough evidence to conlcude that   learning gains were dependent  of learning style

Students enrolled in an introductory statistics course at a university were asked to take a survey that indicated whether the student’s learning style was more visual or verbal. Each student received a numerical score ranging from -11 to +11. Negative scores indicated a visual learner, and positive scores indicated a verbal learner. The closer the score was to -11 or +11, the stronger the student’s inclination toward that learning style. A score of 0 would indicate neutrality between visual or...

We're interested in whether there's a relationship between the Visual and ReadWrite learning styles of Biology students. We know that the standard deviation of Visual scores for the students in our classroom is 3.231746, the standard deviation for the ReadWrite scores is 3.578245, and the covariance between these two variables is 3.747628. Calculate the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient for these two variables, based on these numbers: 0.3241 Question 36 Calculate the t-statistic associated with the null hypothesis that there is...

An instructor in a college biology course wants to test a new method for learning Punnett squares. He begins by pairing students with similar entrance exam scores (ACT scores). Then he randomly selects one student from each pair to receive a new curriculum on Punnett squares, while the other student receives the traditional curriculum. At the end of the semester, he administers a genetics quiz with multiple Punnett square problems and records the number of errors. There are 24 students...
