What does the United States still need to learn in order to create policies that will prevent future terrorists threats?

Solutions

Expert Solution

In order to create policies that will prevent future terrorist threats USA will have to learn as well as understand the key reasons that has led to extremist ideologies and narratives. It is only after USA learns about the key reason that gives rise to extremist ideologies will it be able to prevent future terrorists threats.

The rise of Islamic State (ISIS) has been meteoric and it is inspiring terrorist attacks not only in USA but also all over the world. These terrorists have adapted well to the current geo-political situations and the current set of counter terrorism measures in place. This has led to increased number of terror attacks that are carried by small groups and individuals.

Thus, to create policies that will prevent future terrorists’ threats, the United States still need to learn how to discredit the violent as well as twisted ideology of the extremists. This learning will enable USA to reduce its reliance on law enforcement approaches which are no longer an effective measure to counter terrorism.
