Does affirmative action still have a future in the united states? On the other hand, increasing numbers of African Americans have joined the middle class by acquiring college degrees, professional jobs, and new homes. On the other hand, blacks are still far more likely than whites to live in poverty, attend poor schools, and lack economic opportunity. Given these differences do we still need affirmative action?
Affirmative action means an active effort to improve the employement or educational opportunities of member of minority groups. sought to achieve a multicultural staff through affirmative action. Also a similar effort to promote the rights or progress of other disadvantaged group.
African americans are an ethnic group of americans with total or partial ancestry from any of the black racial group of Africa. African americans constitute the third largest racial and ethnic group in America (Approximately 13.5% of total population).
African Americans have improved theri social and economic standing significantlt since the civil right movement and recent decade have witnessed the expansion of a robust African amrican middle class across America. Unprecedented access to higher education and employment in addition to representation in the highest levels of American has been gained by african Americans in the post civil right Era. One of the most serious and long standing issues within African American community is Poverty.
Considering the proportion of population and their contribution to over all growth of America, the African american community still deserve the Affirmative action to uplift them selves from the poverty and enjoy the equal status with Americans.
It is the plain and positive obligation of the america to promote and ensure equal opportunity to African American community. It is in the general interest and welfare of America to promote its economy, security and national defense through the most efficient and effective utilization of all available manpower.
