Do you have a wireless network at home? What kind of wireless equipment do you have? Is your wireless network encrypted? If so, what level of encryption and other security options are you utilizing? If not, how can you take care of protecting your network?
Yes, I have a WLAN wireless internet connection. A wireless network is a network that uses a wire-free connection between two devices. The users use a WLAN in a particular building. So, I have a Wireless local area connection.
The components required for WLAN are given as follows:
1. Wireless Gateway or Router: The wireless gateway or router is a device that allows you to connect to the internet. The various devices can get connected to a router and able to access the internet.
2.Wireless adapter: A adapter is inbuilt in the device that you want to connect to the wireless network.
3. Wifi-enabled device: This includes a number of devices like computers, laptops, cell phones, etc.
Yes, my wireless connection is encry[ted with WPA2, the WPA2 encryption protects data between wireless devices, also prevents eavesdropping on the network by malicious user/ intruders.
The wireless security I am using is WPA2(WI-FI PROTECTED ACCESS V2): This scheme is used to provide wireless encryption using the AES algorithm that is the Advanced encryption standard. So, it is the strongest security in the wireless up to now.
The other security techniques are:
1. WPA V1: This protocol is used to provide protection by encryption using the TEMPORAL KEY iNTEGRITY PROTOCOL(TKIP), it is less advanced than the WPA V2.
2. WEP: The WEP is the Wired equivalent privacy that offers the same level of privacy as a wired network.
