If a mutation prevented the synthesis of any of the linker proteins, what step(s) in meiosis would not occur? Why is / are that step(s) important?

Solutions

Expert Solution

If Mutation prevented synthesis of linker protein which is H1 Histone it will prevent prophase 1 leptotene stage of meiosis 1 as during prophase 1 leptotene stage chromatin condensation occur and chromatin is converted into chromosome which is very important without it Meiosis will not proceed and their will be no homologous pairing of chromosome which occur in zygotene stage of prophase 1

As compaction occur when H1 Histone bind to DNA Euchromatin form is converted into Heterochromatin form and chromatin condensation occur and chromatin is converted into chromosome.
