During the pre school years, the following developments take place. The skills involved during pre school years are:

  • Gross motor skills: these skills include the climbing up in the staircase, they learn to put one step at a time, along with climbing and skipping, peddling bicycle, and jumping over the lower obstacles.
  • They become inquisitive about different things along with asking many questions.
  • Cognitively, they begin to learn problems as well as participate with reasoning and thinking.
  • They learn to identify which object is heavier along with identifying the names of the days.
  • Socially, they learn to interact with others, and help others.
  • Development, on a physical front, would be slower than infancy, though important changes would be observed. There would be changes in the motor skills, both gross as well as fine. Children would start to lose the baby fat. They begin learner and obtaining a more athletic look. Legs grow longer, there is formation of abdominal muscles as well as tightening of the stomach. Head is still larger.
