Smart trash bin is a product that is definitely very useful because it solves the unique problem we all face as a society. The issues are of opening the lid of the trash can to throw the trash. This can have multiple disadvantages such as the hygiene issues, the spillage of the trash outside the trash bin, environmental issues because of improper disposal of trash in the trash bin. These are some of the issues that arise because of our traditionally used trash bins. This is where the smart trash cans come into the picture and help us mitigate these issues.

According to the business model canvas, we discuss the key activities of the sensor in a smart trash bin. The key activities are,

A sensor helps in sensing the presence of a person near the trash bin and it then sends the message to the trash bin circuit and the trash bin automatically opens the lid.
Sensors also help in sending the messages to the designated trash collectors once the level of trash crosses the threshold level in the trash bin. When such a message is sent the designated person comes and clears the trash from the bin.
Sensors also help in setting the standards of the trash bin, this means separating the different kinds of waste that can be thrown into the trash. This helps with waste segregation activities.
