One of the top rated Super Bow ads this year was this one for the Amazon Alexa. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/super-bowl-2019-top-commercials-ad-meter-usa-today/ (Links to an external site.)
What appears to be the advertising objective (e.g. type of advertising – informative, persuasive, Etc.) for this ad? While the ad was amusing, do you think it was effective in accomplishing its objective?
PLEASE ANSWER IN PARAGRAPH FORM. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
Amazon Alexa Super bow ad "Not Everything Makes the Cut" is an informative type of ad. It's funny but it's also a reminder that everything which voice assistants can't do. It underlines Alexa's limitation. The message shows that the company aims to develop its voice assistant and find the right tools for Alexa's expansion.
I think the ad was effective in accomplishing its objective because it demonstrates why "not all devices make the cut", as the e-commerce giant incorporates its Alexa assistant into more technology. Several failed Alexa-enabled devices are included, like a hot tub, a podcast-playing toothbrush, and a dog collar, which constantly orders food in response to barking. Showing a number of Alexa fails takes a humorous route on the voice-enabled phenomenon, with the company apparently poking fun at itself and the fact that not every device should be linked to the internet. What's nice here is that Amazon knows very well that Alexa doesn't belong in absolutely everything.
