Three key laws — the Wagner Act, the Taft-Hartley Act, and the Landrum-Griffin Act — govern labor-management practices in union settings. Describe the major points of each act.
The Wagner act
1.Established in 1935 this act was otherwise known as National labours relation act in US .
2.It main purpose was to establish legal rights to all employees and organise them into groups.
3.It only encouraged collective bargaining of employees against their employers for any kind of issue.
4.It established a three and later five member board of members to solve all kind of issues through quasi judicial mode.
5.This act prohibited the employers from following any kind of unfair means and at the same time saved employees from unfair means.
The Taft Hartley Act
1.TheTaft Hartley Act otherwise popularly known as Labour management relation act tried to save employees from various practises followed by the Labour unions.
2.This act encouraged collective bargaining and protected employees from unfair labour union practises.
3. It insisted that an employer cannot stop hiring an employee just because he is not a member of union.
3.It said that if a union has problem with a particular employer it cannot at any cost stop others doing business with the same employer.
4. It says that good faith and trust should be shown by the Labour unions in dealing with any problem of the employees.
5.The act introduced four new type of elections in which one was that the employees can vote for the actions of the union and the other three was that the employees can vote for or against the union in a particular situations.
The Landrum Griffin act.
1.Labour management reporting and disclosure act is otherwise known as Landrum Griffin act was established to make certain more changes and advancements from the Taft Hartley Act.
2.It encouraged democratic process within union organisations.
3. It compels the disclosure of financial dealing and the administrative procedures of labour unions.
4. It stresses the fact that unions should maintain high quality of standards and trust among the employees.
