A person's socioeconomic status is determined by standards such
as education, income and occupation. That is to say, socioeconomic
level means the performance of a person and his comparative
economic and social status in society.
Socioeconomic status has many effects on a person's life, the main
among which is-
Impact on education
The socio-economic status of a person severely affects his level of
education. A person of lower socioeconomic status has a lower level
of education than a person with a higher socioeconomic status.
Because a person with weak socioeconomic status lacks basic
resources such as income resources, means of communication, access
to books and school or college.
Health effects
Individuals with low socioeconomic status do not have access to
health services, due to which they face many serious health
problems. Lack of awareness is also a reason for health problems,
such as lack of awareness for serious illness like AIDS. There is
also a lack of awareness of health standards like hygiene and
nutrition due to weak socioeconomic status. Low socioeconomic
status gives rise to diseases like mental stress, cardiovascular
diseases, hypertension, arthritis and cancer.
Political influence
The concentration of political rights has also increased towards
the affluent class due to the prevailing inequality in the
socioeconomic situation. The availability of political rights is
also available to those who are more powerful socially and
economically. And those who are at the socio-economically low level
are not able to properly utilize their political rights. Even in
political participation, a person of low socioeconomic status is
less active than a person of high socioeconomic status.
Psychological effects
Psychological status of children in a family with weak
socioeconomic status also has a bad effect as there is a lack of
proper communication between children and parents. Because of this
the average dictionary of a child lacks words compared to children
with higher socioeconomic status. Due to which their language level
is low. Children from families with low socioeconomic status are
generally introverted and do not feel connected to society in the
same way that children with higher socioeconomic status do.
A person of low socioeconomic status does not have access to employment, business, financial resources, justice etc. and is not even aware of his political or constitutional rights. Low socioeconomic status gives rise to serious problems like poverty, unemployment and starvation and the next generation of families with low socioeconomic status also gets caught in this vicious cycle.
