MNEs do face a few issues with respect to knowledge management. Elaborate on these issues and the possible ways to combat them. Use examples to illustrate your points.
As globalization and increased transnational rivalry have led to the implementation of a number of new organizational activities, multinational organizations (MNCs) have emerged in academic debate. As organizations grow internationally, they continue to become increasingly diverse in their organizational structures and actions. Particularly for MNCs, while cost management focus may no longer directly affect the performance of businesses, MNCs' strategies include other managerial skills such as an interest in improving organizational structures and highly performing employees
Security. Providing the right level of information management protection is essential. Some users can protect confidential information, thus providing easy access to those with the proper credentials.
To get people motivated. It can't be done with technology to solve the complexities of corporate culture and build a community that supports learning, sharing, change, development. Launching a resource is pointless if there is no incentive to spread the information.
Stick to technology. It is a tremendous challenge to decide how information can be dispensed and transmitted quickly and effectively. Constantly changing systems means learning how to be smart, fast, agile and flexible – all things that a KM tool needs to be able to do.
Measuring savoir-faire. Knowledge is not easily quantifiable, and is much more nuanced as it is derived from human relationships and experience. Rather than results or effort, the focus should be on shared purpose.
