The difference between management and leadership.
Firstly, management is about getting things right and leadership is about doing the right things. Therefore, leaders set the vision and create a roadmap for the organization as a whole. On the other hand, managers focus on the short-term goals and activities which must be conducted to achieve those goals.
Secondly, leaders think in the long-term. Leaders anticipate future changes and set long-term goals for the firm. Managers think in the short-term and focus on day to day operations.
Thirdly, leaders are risk-takers and they motivate the organization to adapt to changes. Managers are risk averse and managers try to minimize risks. Managers like to follow the status quo.
Forthly, all leaders have an individual style of leadership; therefore, all leaders are unique. Different leaders perceive different situations differently and respond in various ways. On the other hand, managers try to imitate each other by following best practices and proven methods.
