Explain in detail what is Sexuality and Human Development ?
Sexuality in human development has been stated by various theorists from different perspectives. One of the famous theories includes Sigmund Freud's psychosexual theories which breaks down the Development into various stages. It begins with the oral stage where he states that the erogenous zones of the infant are in the mouth. Next, there is the anal stage, which is seen in toddlers, where they obtain sexual gratification from bowel movements. Thirdly,the preschoolers go throw the phallic stage, where they may experience the Oedipus or the Electra complex (attraction towards the parent of the opposite sex). The school age children are in the latency period where the feelings in the phallic stage resolves and begins to form friendships with same sex Individuals and engage greatly in games and physical activity. Finally comes the genital stage in the Adolescents and later life where sexual intimacy and relationships play an important role in forming identity.
