The Food and Beverages buisness across the country, from small cafe and restaurant owners to branded fast food outlets, retailer and manufacturer continue to feel the impact as Movement and Control Order announced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia to curb the spreading of Covid-19.
The Food and Beverages industry is struggling to stay aluve during this pandemic. There are only need of delivery voys during this time and a fully staffed restaurent is unessary to maintain.
Now almost 20% - 30% of sale are gone to delivery partners as profit-sharing in many restaurants which depends the delivery-partners and the restaurant owners have to pay the same high rental to the landlords, there is an absolute imbalance.
The F&B owners are really sweating because they have to pay salaries of the employees pay rentals to landlords are as usual, but the business hit very badly due to the pandemic.
However the F&B operators take many measures to tackle this business loss by many other means, such as increasing delivery of foods, not only to offer convenience the stranded people but is also an attempt to keep up their operations.Some restaurant owners even altered their price and menu to attract more customers so that they can atleast survive during this tough time.
Many local restaurant owners seek financial aid from government to survive during this time such as to meet up to 50% of salaries costs like U.K government vowed to meet up to 80% of the salary costs of F&B Operators so that the business can maintain their staff. They have requested a moratorium on rental and tax breaks from landlords as they are the biggest fixed expenses that Food and Beverages operators have to bear.
