Consumer decision-making process involves in mainly five stages including recognition of the needs, searching for information about the products, assessment of the alternative products available, purchasing product, and post purchasing behavior. These activities are directly associated with the behavior of consumer consumption. These further lead to have a choice by customer. The activities are also helpful in making decisions by consumers to resolve problems. The decisions are made on the basis of emotion, motivation, and value. The two processes consumer decision-making and consumer behavior consumption thinks about the customers.
Consumer involvement is a good thing in solving a problem and have good choice of product. Perceived risks related to consumer decision-making include social risks, financial risks, physical, performance risks, and time risks. To address these risks, actions are taken. The past experience to the customer in a product helps in reducing the time required to search about the product reviews and ratings. Time availability will also influence the problem-solving since it requires quality and accurate information.
Different type of technologies used by the consumers in searching the information including pre-purchase search, external search, internal search, and ongoing search. Among these, external search is big one and provides lot of information. The example of external search including internet, research reports, family, advertising, friends, smartphones, and salespeople. By using smartphone, consumers can find information easily by installing the required apps. Latest technologies such as augmented reality, QR codes, GPS enabled technologies, and mobile visual research are also impacting search behavior of consumers.
