The principles of Buddhism align with the basic foundation of science. It is said that Buddhism is not a religion, rather, a way of life. Buddha himself was spotted saying that he isn't god and shouldn't be treated as one. The fourteenth Dalai Lama made a statement that if at all, at any given time, scientific research proves that a certain philosophy of Buddhism is wrong, then they will all accept the scientific research. This shows how much Buddhism is an image of science because if Buddhism wasn't based on science, the Dalai Lama wouldn't have made such a statement.
In the teachings of Buddhism, we find that knowledge is obtained through personal experience, rather than reliance on sacred texts or the teachings of masters, because knowledge is thought to be empirical and not theoretical. The teachings of the Buddha are open to verification by science. They support free inquiry. The mindfulness techniques derived from Buddhism are used in medicine and psychology, widely til today. And because of this, Buddhism is often referred to as "The Science of Happiness".
Scholars are not wrong when they say that Buddhism is a rationalist and scientific religion. This view on Buddhism is also referred to as 'Buddhist Modernism'. This is true because Buddhism is realistic with philosophical insights. Buddhism is not like any other religion in this world. It has a very realistic, modern, and scientific approach to life. Therefore, it is safe to say that the above features of Buddhism are what make it fit with our modern scientific outlook.
