It might be said that many social psychological processes can be both automatic and occur without effort and controlled, effortful and intentional. Explain how this is true by giving at least one example of a social psychological process that can be both automatic and controlled.
The social psychological process is essential for major social
activities, such as human relations, public administration, and
justice. Social psychology therefore has a central role in social
and social policy. It describes and provides evaluation of human
conduct and our society's process. Examples of automatic
psychological process like automatic inclination – the inclination
to act just in case it is the rational choice (affective aspects)
and automatic love, as in love at first sight (inference to cause).
Characterizing intentional actions as choices are the rational
thinking part of human reasoning. These are the three types of
automatic thoughts – emotion, habit and automatic thought. These are
the ways of creating the unconscious mental structures as well as,
controlling them and of creating an impression which may leads to
an action. Recent research shows that many of our decisions and
actions are generated with little consciousness and awareness. For
example-the parent had to exercise their control over the child to
maintain the interaction and the impression of control.
