Expert Solution

While supplying the water from the main pipe to the inspection chamber or manhole, the water is being distributed or provided of two types that is the cold water and hot water. Here we are going to discuss about the layout of the domestic cold water system. The water is supplied to the main Valve from the Main pipe lines. The water is distributed to two different sections from the valves given above. One leads to the air ventilation above and other towards the heat exchanger. As we are going to discuss about cold water only then the water is supplied to the line with air ventilation. Cold natural air is being passed and due to that the temperature of the pipeline is relatively low and that helps in chilling of water. Then the water is being supplied to the sub arteries to the domestic places in form of cold water and the other line where water is distributed is used for providing the hot water. Please refer the diagram for more clear view of the layout for the cold water supply for domestic purpose.

Water travels through a pipe at 5.13 m/s. The pipe expands from a crossectional area of 2.9 m2 to an area of 11.6 m2. What is the speed of the water in the second part of the pipe in m/s? How much is the pressure change in KPa as the pipe expands? The density of water is 1000 kg/m3. Enter a positive value for an increase in pressure, a negative value for a decrease. (Kpa)

(a) Use the phase diagram for water and a few well-written prose sentences to explain why, at sea level, large vapor bubbles do not form in a pot of water at 95 oC. (Actually, small bubbles can appear at this temperature. This is simmering, not boiling.) (b) By integrating the Clausius-Clapeyron equation from (T0,P0) = (100 oC, 1.00 atm), calculate the ambient pressure in a kitchen where water does in fact, boil at 95 oC.
