(WSJ SatApril 14/18 p.B2 beginning"Toy' .What impact would have their very different approaches to production and overall personnel policies have on overall company performance ?
Global HR Policy
International HR Policy basics you know that to achieve and retain a competitive edge in a world market this policy needs to support your company's global business strategy. You know that it shouldnot be tool restrictive or too vague, and that it should reflect local customs of the host country.
Five practlcal tips for global HR policies
1) Plan carefully
In order to effectievely roll out a global policy, undertaking proper planning is essential. A timetable should be devised that allows an employer to obtain local views, produce a final form policy, obtain appropriate translations, inform and/or consult with employee representatives to the extent required , and put in pladce appropriate communication and training process.
2) Gain visiable and high -level- suport.
In the authors experience, global policies are most effectly implemented where they have very visible and high-level support. it is therefore , advisable to give one senior employee within the organisation ultimate responsibility for coordinating the project.
3) Work with local employees to introduce policies
These local people can then work with nominated local employee and/or HR in each juridiction to introduce the policies and to ensure approriate training and guidence is provided. After implementation, these local employees can be given responsibility for monitoring the impact of the policy and provding appropriate feedback.
4) Take local legal advice
In addition to seeking the view of local employees, employers should also take ledgal advice to identify any potential difficulities with the polic that is being introudeced and , crucially whether or not there is a need to consult with local employee representativives, works councils and/or trade unions. Any resistance or concerns that are raised should be carefully considered and, if required to comply with specific local legislation particular sections of the policy should be varied for particular countries.
5) Communicate the policy effectively
The form and timing of communication to employees will also need to be considered. Many organisations have employee handbooks

Mainteince managers need to select a maintaince approach that is sutable for their operation and production method.It is therefore to have guideline tro select or derive a suitable maintenance philosophy approch or strategy for an organisation based on its business needs, operational needs, and production methods.

The selection of a production method is dependent on the business as well as the technical requirementes of the orgnisiation. Business requirements that influence such a decision include the volume of proudcts to be produced , the degree of product customisatin, and product lead time . the releationship between varitey, volume , process , and production methods

2) Maintaince Approches
A number of different maintaince approches, sometimes reffered to as strategies or philosophies, are currently avaliable for application in all production methods. The fundamental characterstics of these maintenance approaches are fairly similar but their fouces are different . Relieability-centered maintenance originated in the aviatin industry , and is focused on equipment reliablity. Total productive maintenance originatd in the assembly line industry and is focused on improving the quality of people adn processes .
