• Socialization is the means by which human infants begin to acquire the skills necessary to perform as a functioning member of their society and is the most influential learning process one can experience.
• Identity development by Erikson encompasses eight stages across the life course. The fifth stage occurs in adolescence and is especially critical because teenagers often experience an identity crisis as they move from childhood to adulthood.This is one of the theory that defines my development process from a child to a young adult.
• The major turning point has been the adolescent stage,wherein a conflict was faced by me in my school days regarding my identity and what I seek to do in my future.I was absolutely clueless in my teenage years regarding what defined me,my friends and my social environment at school was a major influence on my personality development. Being with my friends shaped my beliefs,my opinions on various issues and even my likes and dislikes.
• In a way it worked positively for me since I became more confident by interacting and spending time with my group at school.I was motivated to join extra curricular activities and participate in competitions which helped me develop my identity and by the time it was time to leave school I had an idea regarding what I wanted to do in my life. Even though role confusion still existed to a certain extent,but experiences at school gave a perspective to me.
• I think socialization at school level and during adolscent stage is extremely important and critical.The social environment including your friends,parents and teachers have major influence over developing ones' identity and also understand ones' career goals as well. You understand your strengths and weakenesses as an individual and either use it to your advantage or suffer confusion later in life.My teenage phase helped me figure out to a certain extent what I wanted to take up in college and which profession I was interested in,though I was still confused.But the major impact was on my identity development and personality. This phase made me discover myself and understand myself which made my interactions with other people fruitful.
