What are the 7 steps of Intramembranous ossification?
Ans) steps in intramembranous ossification are -
1. at the site of bone formation, mesenchymal cells aggregate.
2. Some of these mesenchymal cells will lay down bundles of collagen fibres.
3. A few of these mesenchymal cells will enlarge and acquire a basophilic cytoplasm and produce osteoblasts.
4. The osteoblasts so formed will secrete a gelatinous matrix which is called osteoid around the collagen fibres.
5. Deposition of calcium salts into osteoid and converting osteoid into bone lamellae.
6. Osteoblasts move away from lamellae and a new layer of osteoid is synthesised which also gets calcified.
7. Few osteoblasts which get trapped in the lamellae are called osteocytes.
