Strikes tend to be pretty uncommon in the US these days. Have you ever been impacted by a strike? What trend do you see strikes having in the future? Does the change in generations (from baby boomers to millenials) affect the likelihood of strikes in your opinion?
Strikes, unlike earlier, have become pretty uncommon these days. Earlier, with a lot of unions, strikes were literally a part and parcel of the employment. Strikes used to take a major part of the job then, but these days, scenario has become very uncommon. Unions have reduced and workers are trying to deal in a better way, since strikes have always backfired them in a relatively higher manner.
Yes, i have definitely been impacted by a strike. When people try to do good, abolish the bad ways and try to bring about a positive change, then such strike will definitely influence people to support. When people strike to put an end to the war, or a strike to put an end to racism, or gender discrimination then that has definitely impacted me to encourage people and tell them that they are doing a perfect job.
In the month of March this year, thousands of public school teachers in West Virginia went out on strike to protest against the low wages and rising health-care costs. Such strikes are indeniably needed, such that justice is sought.
The change in the generations has definitely affected the likelihood of strikes. Like for example, strikes during baby bloomers took a lot of time and effort in being noticed and in order to get a right solution. But ironically, strikes now has a newer path and the people are being noticed easily and their demmands are fulfilled easily. Such positive change has a positive effect on the millenial strikes. And that is why strikes have become very uncommon in US these days.
