B. If not personally involved, have you ever observed other parties
involved in a political situation? Explain. Was the situation
resolved in a way that you thought was right?
A. Yes, I have seen myself getting involved with office politics once I was serving as an intern in a company. It was the time where a team leader has to be selected for a group of 10 members and the manager asked us to select a leader by our own coordination and mutual understanding. I gave my name as the candidate to become the leader but also there was this another girl from the group who was trying to become a one. I used the help of social networking and the power of personal relationship builting with that team to achieve the position I wanted to. I saw her using and giving false hopes and promises to the teams like increasing the stipend etc to attract the group members towards her for making the leader. On the other hand, I understood the consequences of false hopes and promises and instead gave them and showed them the reality, not promising anything tangible but promising an intrinsic growth factor making them understand being interns we have to focus more on intrinsic growth, skills, knowledge and understanding of internal development and not on the pay or stipend we are getting. We have to focus of development of the skills to have more money in the future instead of this smaller amount of money we are craving for.
By using this tactics, motivational communication and politics, I was made the leader of the group and manager was impressed by the leadership skills being used by me. The consequence of the same was a positive one where people understand the meaning and relevance of internal growth and motives.
