What does CompStat measures ?
It has been embraced since the mid-1990s and by police forces around the country. Short for compare statistics Compstat is an ongoing measurement of agency efficiency that features "live assessments" information on arrests and other vital areas is collected and circulated to department-wide administrators, and checked in weekly plenary sessions of departmental executives and senior management. Unit commanders are called to a podium before their subordinates and superiors, where they are asked about the data from their jurisdictions and supposed to have implemented new approaches or techniques to deal with any problems effectively
It became an integral model for Measuring and managing New York City Police operations. The Compstat model is at its most basic, a series of policing principles and a mechanism for Implementation and implementation of those values. Applied in reality, it is a paradigm change for law enforcement, a modern way of thinking and handling the work of police.
