Identify other examples of political activity at the top of organizations that affected strategy.
What bases of political influence might executives draw on in disagreements between themselves
directly or indirectly, political process in organizations definitely can influence the development of strategy. the people who are at top, once they changed or replaced, most of the strategies were changed. the reason may not moving towards growth and development, but the reason is to show the variation in the leadership style when compares to old one to new one.
The recent live examples happened in TATA group and INFOSIS in India- these two issues were best examples for the given topic. Syrus Mistry was one of the partner in Tata sons group with second major shareholder after TATA family. due to some reasons Mistry was fired from the Board and group due to internal politics, later many changes were happened, many new strategies were introduced in the system.
Similar case with Vishal Sikka and Infosys case- where the promoters were fired Visal and removed from the Board and company. The reason is same, i.e. internal politics.
the poeple at top level usually moves together will others, collectively and with all. But in some cases and in some times they move individually and feel that they are the drivers of the firm. It is the uncertain issue, where the top people felt the fear or some kind of in convinience in the firm. In this times, they prefers to establish an unauthoried cotary which a they prefers to a group. that group will decides what the top level people has to do, when to do and how to do. In this process, the top level people forget the pulse and feelings of a common stakeholder in the firm. It leads to clashes among the people and increase the disagreements among those.
Organization is an establishment of a group of people, when it loses the representation of the group, it loses the identity. and the success or failure of any organiztaion is completely depends on its people.
