Rural and urban areas complement each other and both are getting benifitted from each other in following ways:

Urban areas depends on rural area for their demands of daily needs like food, water, grains, raw materials etc. which are basically being produced by rural ecosystem.
The benifits rural area gets from urban areas are employment opportunities,market to sell their product, farm input etc.
Many of the input of urban factories are also getting met by rural outputs like sugercane for getting sugar or potato to make chips.
Rural areas borrow new technology and innovations done in urban labs for increasing their productivity and outputs.
Rural areas also use informations like weither informations and other climate broadcasts based on which they prepare themselves what kind of crops will give better result in a particular season be it monsoon, or the quality of rain in a particular rainy season.
