Critically discuss the challenges teachers experience when teaching economics in rural areas
The teachers face different
challenges when teaching economics in rural areas. The first
challenge is the presence of behavioral aspects among the people
who have specific social and cultural preferences and are
influenced by one another. It makes them learn and implement
rational approach to be very difficult and they rely on sentiments
and what others are doing. The second challenge is the difference
in perceived preferences among people in comparison to these
teachers when economic principles are applied. For example,
teachers consider costs that may be other than the cost to be
considered by the people in the rural areas. So, these teachers
require a specific understanding of the rural areas. The third
challenge is the lack of cultural understanding among the teachers
regarding the rural areas where people understand and interpret
things differently. Hence, teachers should get specific training to
adpat to the demand of teaching economics in rural areas.
