Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:
There are more violent crimes in urban than rural areas in Ghana because of below mentioned reasons

  • The social inequalities are higher in urban areas as compare to rural areas which is one of the reason for more violent crimes.
  • Urban areas have higher population as well as higher population density as well, so all the people are not getting the resources they deserve which may force them to go in the direction of crime. For instance street crime is quite common in big cities of Ghana like Accra. Targeting travellers in most crowded area is also quite common.
  • Urban area have people with diverse socio-cultural and religious background where identity and insecurrities can be an important issue which may leads to crime.

This problem can be addressed in following ways:

  • Opening carrier counselling centers and teaching the people how to lead their life well
  • Increasing education in the urban area, as people gets educated they understand the futile nature and harm of doing crime.
  • Increasing level of employement in the city so that social inequality will also be reduced.
  • Retribution and Rehabilitation form of punishment should be given to the culprits which will help them in reforming themselves.
