Find a specific example of where nuclear power/energy/technology is being used and write and telling us about your example. Make sure to include the specific element information. State the Isotope name. When was it discovered? What is the half-life? What is the chemical reaction? How does it decay? (for example, "it decays with the emission of an alpha-particle") Include what nuclear processes are being used and how it might be a benefit to man-kind or a danger. Also include information about any controversies that may surround your example, along with your own opinion about it.
Steam turbine is an example of nuclear power which is used in nuclear power plants to produce electricity.
A steam turbine uses different kinds of heat sources like coal ,gas, nuclear and solar which heats the water to an ultimate temperature until it is converted to steam. The potential energy of steam is converted to kinetic energy which is used to rotate the blades of the turbine to generate heat.
Inconel and stainless steel are the elements used in turbine engines.
Inconel is an alloy that is made up of nickel chromium and iron elements.
Just take one example of Chromium .The isotope name of chromium are Cr-48,Cr-50,Cr-51,Cr-52,Cr-53,Cr-54,
Cr-58.Cr-63.
Four most stable isotopes are Cr-50,Cr-52,Cr-53.Cr-54. Most abundant isotope of chromium is Cr-50.
Cr 50 was discovered in 1797 by scientist Vauquelin.
Cr-50 undergoes double beta decay to form thallium whose half life is more than 1.8*1017 years.
Chromium 50 is mostly stable. whereas chromium 51 has half life of 27 days.
Chromium is used as a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical agent to determine the red blood cell volume or mass ,study the red blood survival time and evaluate blood loss.
Chromium is naturally occuring element found in rocks plants.soils, foods and vegetables and nuts.It is also found in volacanic dusts and gases.Tobacco products also contain Chromium.Burning of natural gas ,coal and oil prroduces chromium gas.
Excess release of chromium can from lead to many helath hazardous impact like ulceration ,skin irritation and dermatitis, nose irritation and nose bleeding etc.
