Mayo clinic needs to use engineering methodology to get best results in staffing, workload , facility and workflow analysis etc.Focusing on infrastructure and system support will bring best result like leadership and organization structure,information technology ,education and training to staff etc..
It is necessary to manage and measure organizational performance in health care management.. A strategic management performance system is needed for enhancing organizational competancy which includes monitoring the quality to expand market share,timely accurate mangement information for improvement of performance,focus of the organization on performance metrics, monitoring organization's promptness in responding to market changes etc.
The challenges are poor goal setting and lack of alignment on the part of the team.Anothe challenge is not able to track progrss of the clinic and people are not connected to the strategy.There are no leading indicators to stimulate management .It is neccessary to set manageable goals, trackthem and manage them. In particular the challenges facing Mayo clinic are that as Mayo is becoming efficient , it is becoming harder for Mayo to become better.The innovative changes are just small changes which are part of big change that is needed. So the impacts are not quantifiable.Thus it is necessaryto set goals and connect peole to the new strategy by learning new skills ,working with different people and team,having more responsibility,etc.
