A) Retailers

Retail network in India is very vast. There are different types of retailers across India. Many of the retail network is organised and many of the retailers also operating in an unorganised way. There are big time retail chains across India operated by high end business conglomerates such as Reliance Enterprises, Bharti Enterprises, Godrej, and the likes operating supermarkets in the name of Reliance Fresh, Easy Day Stores, Nature’s Basket, respectively, operating from all major metropolitan towns. Then there are online retail stores like Big Basket, Grofers, Zopnow, Nature’s Basket, Reliance Fresh, Amazon Groceries, to name a few, also operating from metropolitan areas. Another side of the retail sector is the local grocery shops opened up at every nook and corner of towns and villages. They cater to the local needs of the people residing nearby.

B) Wholesaler Middlemen

Wholesale network is also divided into organised and unorganised sector. In organised sector you will see players like Metro Cash & Carry, Bharti-Walmart Best Price Modern Wholesale, Reliance Cash and Carry and Booker Wholesale for B2B sales. Next, the biggest wholesale markets can be found in each and every A and B category towns providing goods in bulk to the local retailers as well as to retailers in satellite towns and villages in the districts. A very well known wholesale market in Delhi is located in Sadar Bazar and another one is in Govindpuri.

C) Import/Export Agents

India is one of the big markets where imports take place for many products after the Government decided to open up the Indian markets to rest of the world. There are many retail and FMCG products that are imported in India from Middle East, Europe and US as well as from South East Asia. The big players in Import/Export arena are Falcon India, Portlogy, and many more.
