Provide an analysis of humanistic, transpersonal, and existential psychology (HTE) and include what cultural and historical contexts did the movement emerge?
Humanistic perspective - It studies the whole person and uniqueness of an individual. It believs that the problems should also be seen from the other person's point of view. There should be more of empathy than sympathy. It stresses the importance to how individual sees and interpreststhe things. Carl Roger is important because he to the humanistic psycholoy, a shift from conscience - Freud or behaviour - Skinner. It was developed in rebel against behaviour and pscyhodynamic psychology which had limitations. These both perspectives were dehumazied by humanistic psychologists. It believes that people are good and they have iiner capacity to make things beteer if they are well understood and guided. Maslow and Rogers believed that personal and fullfillement are the basic motives in personal life
Transpersonal psychology has its basic roots in humanistic psychology.Its origins are traced back to the Maslow. Its beleives that there are human experience which go beyond the materialistic needs. Maslow refered this as third force of psychology. Transpersonal psychologist believed that humans seeks spiritual consience. Acc to them there is metaphysical commitment
Existential psychology - This also has humanistic base and is considered as 4th force pf psychology.It shares a belief in human potential and commitment to human dignity Existential ecperiences are often lookes as peak experiences i.e. self transdeny or self actualization. Existential psychologists avoid existence of spirituality. They believe that everything is real and is the aprt of human ife which one should carry with.
