What steps can businesses take to ensure that engineers report all potential problems that arise during development?
Problems come in all the projects. Many a times it happens that the problems are not communicated properly or are just ignored by the engineers. The business lose out on it. There are many things a business can do to ensure that the engineers report to the potential problems that arise in the development.
1) Continous feedback and communication sessions: There has to be effective communication channels which has to be established between all the people in the company. Continous feedback and commnication ensures that the all the problems are highlighted at the right time. This bridges the gap between engineers and managers and help people manage projects better.
2) Team member many a times dont know what are their complete responsiblities and what is the expected from them. This leads to them not tell the potential problem at the right time. Therefore businesses should clearly explain the roles and responsibility of each individual.
3) Managing and collaborating with team members in different locations and time zones: This becomes a difficult task when teams are not present in one location. This becomes a barrier when one wants to report about the potential problem. This can be mititgate by following up with teams on time using proper channels.
4) Ownership: An engineer should have a feeling of ownership about the project. Lack of feeling of ownership leads to not having the proper communication. Which ultimately leads to not having to tell the potential problems arising in the development
