What are the specific impacts to businesses from computer hacks? What steps can risk managers take to anticipate the threat of computer hacks and protect against it?
Computer hack in an organization may actually affect the organization a lot and the primary objective of a hack is to get access to the data of the organization because data is the asset and with data there are a lot of functions or operations that the hacker can do. Information like financial reports, business strategies, analysis reports, etc. which are confidential reports may get stolen by the hacker. It may also cost a huge amount to the organization as well and large organizations are quite prone to hacking, even the largest IT companies are hacked like Google and others too.
In order to stop organizations from getting hacked the risk managers need to plan specific steps, they are:
1. confidential Information should not be shared or stored in cloud.
2. Each and every location should be password protected with strong passwords.
3. Communication like emails, blogs and websites should be monitored on a regular basis.
4. Personal data should not be shared on public forum or in common servers.
