Enantiomerically pure α-phenylethylamine (α-PEA)

Most of the organic natural products are chiral. Might be Nature wants them in a single enantiomeric form.In terms of philosphy nature or superpower always wants the things to be in the pure form and the reason is quite clear to work specifically ,to execute specifically means never wants mixture.

likewise enantiomerically pure compounds can perform the route which mixture cannot or might be with very less yield. It is very common one enantiomer may work for a specific work another cannot .

The above stated are the reason why Enantiomerically pure α-phenylethylamine (α-PEA) is used in the industries.

• Enantioselective hydrogenation of olefins is better carried out using (s) -α-PEA whereas not its other enantiomer.
• (R)- or (S)-α-PEA used as catalysts in the enantioselective addition of diethylzinc to arylaldehydes with enantiomeric excesses as high as 88%
• widely used in medicinal chemistry with its enantioselectivity only example-Depression,Mood,Weight loss etc.
