In career the normal distribution is the way of evaluating candidates for promotion. Normal distribution are applied taking into account that many real-life variables do follow the normal distribution patterns. For example, whoever scores above 2 deviations above the mean in their performance evaluations, will be promoted to the next level. The bottom 5% will be showed the door from the company. This can be easily modelled by knowing the mean and the standard deviation of the scores, and visually viewing the frequency distribution.

Normal distribution has many application. for example, while I was a student I wanted to identify what would be the possible cutoff of A grade for the Chemistry 101 subject. The cutoffs of grades weren't announced then. But what was known was the fact that the instructor will base his scores on normal distribution. So, I had the marks in an excel sheet of all students who had enrolled for the course. i simply calculated the score 1 deviation more than the mean score and derived the cutoff for the A grade. that' how I could practically use the normal distribution in a real-life scenario
