Q1 Answer:

Validity and reliability of the research tools that you are going to use for the research is the most important part. Validity is defined as the ability of the tools or method should be accurately measure what that supposed to be measure. For example : thermometer should check temperature only. You cannot choose thermometer to check the blood pressure. Same thing you should choose the accurate methods or research tool base on what you want to find out in your research study.

Reliability means whatever methods tools or method you are using for the study should give accurate and repeated same values when you used it. For example: check of temperature by using thermometer produce correct values or temperature when measure repeatedly.

Q2

Answer : yes definitely, the progress in research will be cease if the method or research tools are not validity and reliability. It is because when use of invalidity and unreliable tools will produce data which are not related to the topic what a research wants and the data will be wrong data.
